Default Just lost my IS350

Oh dear. My wife's favorite car of all time was totaled this past Sun. aft. by a hit and run cockroach. By God's grace the injuries were not too severe.

So, my dear wife says the next day when she needs to run an errand, "Please give me the 'key' to the Lexus". Now she loves the Lexus and it looks like I don't have a car.

So what am I going to do? Buy another one and have TWO IS350's? Looked today at a GS460 and the SC430. The GS seems to be just a bigger brother to the IS. The 460 V8 with an 8 speed tranny is very nice I might add. The SC is a great car (love the top down part!) but with 2002 technology the 2nd gen. IS has me spoiled big time. How about the IS-F? Now that would be very similar yet VERY different. Do I want two virtually the same four door cars sitting side by side. (yes I know one is a flame thrower and the other just sort of a flame thrower) ? Just not sure. Not sure I'm willing to cross into Infiniti territory and look at the G37.

Anyway, I don't have to make a move real fast but I do have to start getting serious about this. Can't have my wife having all the fun.

Oh well, I feel better now just sharing with CL friends. I'll keep working on this. Maybe a fun problem to have. Just not sure yet. I do know that my IS350 is one great car and leaves very, very little to be desired. Shoot, just ask my wife.

Glad to hear youre wife is ok. I think a GS460 is nice, like you said its like a big brother to the IS.

Sorry to hear about your wife's car, she's ok and that's all that counts. The person that hit and run will get what's coming to him.
Ever considered the LS? I love the look of the latest generation. Although the LS is in a different category from the IS and G37.

Well, it seems that you want another small compact sporty car.

However, how about functionality? Perhaps a crossover vehicle (with some sporty agility) may be a good choice so that you can have two different kinds of cars for different functions.

Have you thought of the Acura RDX/MDX, or perhaps a Highlander/RX? Hell, even a Porsche Cayenne has some ***** that will pair well with the IS...

Infiniti EX looks like it's worth a look too... or Buy American and get a CTS. Or lease (not buy) a 1 series.

3GS FTW!!! i too vote for keeping it in the family BUT... did you look at the LS460? Nothing wrong with having a killer sports sedan and a vip god

Glad to hear your wife is ok. Now, i LOVE lexus, but there are other options that are similar to a 350. I'm just gonna list some of the top of my head.

G37 coupe
335i
Acura TL type S
Porsche Boxter (i know its diff, but its a nice car)
Audi S4 or S5

I personally love the 335 and the S5.

I love lexus, but personally, only the IS, LS and the SC.

Just get the BMW 335i. Add the JBS2 (+40 torque to the rear wheels) You will be doing 110 in the 1/4 mile. Now, just don't let your wife drive it (unless you want the Lexus back)

^That's exactly what I was going to suggest. Keep everything stock and have Dinan chip that bad boy...

Tom, sorry to hear about the accident, but I'm glad it wasn't too serious. Keep us posted on what you wind up adding to the garage!

+1 chip for for an extra 40+ HP and 40+torque and your good to go. It is totally refined and you get FREE MAINTAINENCE FOR 4YEARS/50K MILES!!! but in all seriousness you should explore the car world outside of Lexus. Just give it a test drive.

I can tell you that it does feel good to hear from so many of you. Great suggestions and "Yes" I'll be looking at all of them. Well......maybe most of them. Acura's are front wheel drive, no? I can't/won't do front wheel drive. (It's an old man thing)

I looked at but did not drive an LS460. A very nice car. Large, powerful, comfortable, a technological wonder but I'm not sure I want a car that big. I DO want it to be as "smart" and at least as quick as the IS350. I'll not rush into this although I'm tempted to do that. More research is in order. AND more test driving. I will say that putting the top down on the SC430 today was quite a kick. Not sure that the Nav screen was as clear and crisp as the IS though. And no "push button" start.

I'll keep you all posted. Thanks again for "being here".

Porsche Cayenne has no ***** what so ever...... at least not the 2 I drove. Very sluggish and lethargic.

BMW 335i although every1 has them. The same could be said about the IS250/350 though. People have good taste

G37 coupe dont know much about these yet. Some good/bad reviews so far. You can save yourself a bundle and just buy a Nissan Altima coupe..... if your going for looks.

Audi S4 or S5 Probably my favorite pick. I would have bought this if I didnt buy my Lex.

LET US KNOW WHAT YOU DECIDE ON
