Well my favourite story is Buford watching the pattern of old people smacking peoples cars. It sounds innocent. You know... they're like babies.... old people descending back into infancy. Excusable as it is not intentional... When i'm 84 i'm swinging my door wide open and gonna use everything else around me for support.. haha
The worst part is those who are deliberate. Back to the initial source of the thread, which is does this car attract trouble? I don't know... i'm more paranoid than ever before, i read these forums where people are reporting their crashes, troubles, problems.... i hope my ownership is luck prone. My whole goal is to keep the jerks away from me.
When you compare the amount of BMW's sold (mostly driven by trouble loving people) and Mercedes to Lexus you would consider this car off the beaten path. Will people even recognize it? I get noticed more in my 95 benz to be honest. Which is a good thing....
Just thoughts

My gen1 IS had dings from a parking garage I used at work. It burned me up. When I bought the 2gen, I still park as far out as possible. one day at a Target, I parked four spaces away from a new vette and at the far far end of the lot. When I came out, their was a ****box Ford Contour dented up next to me. I was like what the F!! The owner was behind me walking and said politely, I did not hit your vehicle, I said, of all the places to park, you chose to park next to me, why? Then I just shook my head and left. I have also seen people carelessly swing their dors open and hit cars because they are (a) Lazy, (B) Mildly Retarded, (C) Completely Carelss (D) Complete A>>Hole or (E) All of the above. It seems like you can't have anything nice without someone negativley effecting it. I would neve hit someones door, even if I drove a beater or rental car.

My rules for parking:
1. Always park way out yonder next to an island with the curb on your right.
2. Never park next to a Volvo.
3. Never Park next to a mini van.
4. Never park next to a 2 door
5. Never park next to a beater.
6. And NEVER, EVER take up two parking spaces!

Every parking situation has to be evaluated differently. Sometimes parking next to someone or between 2 someones will be better than parking all by yourself. When I pull into a parking lot, I evaluate the chances of run away shopping carts first. If there is a possibility of a cart, I'll park as close to the top of the hill as I can, or find a spot that is blocked by something. Second, I look for an end parking space where I can be sure that at least one side is safe (hopefully the driver's side since passengers are usually less carefull than drivers), and snuggle up to the curb as close as I can. Third, I look for hardicap parking spaces with an open space next to them. If I can find one, I get as close to the handicap spot as I can since so few people ever park in them.

Must be the median age of Volvo drivers
Is that because one of life's losers will intentionally hate on you? It doesn't seem like too bad of an idea if you park away from others.
