They aren't quite up to the Lexus finish wise, but the Legacy is a compelling overall package, especially at its price point. And parts and ongoing maintenance will be the lowest of any of the cars you mentioned.
I agree with Evitzee. You can look at the Audi A4 Quatrro or a Mitsu EVO if she can drive a manual. Personally i didnt like the audi because the seats were too hard on my back. i have 2 ruptured discs! I was tossing up the G35 and the IS. G35 didnt give me a good deal. Got a good deal for the IS.

If you're thinking about Audi A4 I'd wait.New model for '09 that's longer and wider.Almost the size of the A6.

Though, the suburu and evo are reliable and fun cars, its not what she is looking for. She really like the interior fit/finish of a Lexus, as do I. Im very hesitant to consider the Audi. Ive dealt with 3 VWs and 2 Audis between family members and every single one of them have had problems. Though alot of it was covered under warranty, i just dont want to deal with it (and im the one thats gonna deal with it..not her). Also, the '09 version did not get much update in the exterior design. Still has what i believe to be a pretty blah side profile. The lexus, MB Sport, and Acura have sportier looks to them, the G35 is ok, and the BMW is so common that im sick of it.

Wont lower the car...just cuz of MN winters. Im thinking ill start with Rims then intake, tint, blacking out taillights, mesh grille, and HIDs for fogs. Prolly wont do the exhaust as the woman doesnt like loud cars.

If you really want a 350 and price is the only reason why you ruled it out, then consider getting a nice CPO. The warranty is as good or better than new. They're advertising CPO warranties here in CA for up to 6yrs now.
