RPM problem
sometimes when i accelerate to 3000 rpm, it just stays there even when i let go off the gas..it would stay there for about 10 seconds. this has happened a few times. doesnt seem normal.
any ideas? bring it in to the dealer?

bring to the dealer. assume you have AT?
what i would do is put the car in neutral to see how it responds from there. i have been having similar troubles with my car where it wants to hold RPM around 2k but the car wants to take off on its own with out me pressing the gas. once i put in neutral the car seems to be fine. i was wondering if its more of a trans problem/issue but havent taken it to the dealer as of yet. im used to driving manual trans cars so when it does it i just throw it in neutral and play around.
please do PM if you find anything out or as things continue to change.

Freddymoo,
Does this happen when your power button is pressed? If so, the AT tends to hold the car in gear even when letting off the gas as a performance enhancing feature.

I didn't read all the way down before posting that. ^^ Haha I was wondering why there was so many post's in this thread with people still talking about it. That's a given though.

well i have fully thought this through for you and i have come to the following conclusions. During your experience with the car holding high RPM's while accelerating the outside temperature must have been cold and your engine was not warm yet, so it tends to hold a gear for longer. Also your ECT PWR mode was on causing it to hold gears for longer anyhow. Thus causing the holding of RPMS for several seconds. So from these two reasonable theroms you can further conclude that maybe you should let your car warm up a little before driving in cold weather and keep your ECT PWR mode off.
hah ok that was really smart ***. but seriously just let it idle for a little in your driveway and take off the ECT PWR. if it still wants to hold 3K rpms for a astonishing 10 seconds then theres something wrong with one of the most reliable cars out there. imagine if you were driving a ford?
