Air Intake causing VSC code to trip
Had my car in the dealer yesterday for the fuel line recall. Few miles after I drove away the check engine and VSC light came on. Took it in today and now they're telling me they think it's the Fujita high flow intake that's causing it. Even though it's been on the car for about a year.
Can these intakes do that?
Thanks

someone was just saying in another post to check if your gas cap is tight... it can trip both of those lights if you don't have it tightened enough. also, it takes a few days for the computer to reset itself once you tighten the cap.

Dan SS, does your paperwork indicate what code(s) the dealer read?

Just got a call from the dealer, it wasn't the intake, it was the manifold gasket. When they did the fuel line rework they didn't seat the gasket right. They replaced it, and all it good now.
Thanks for your replys!

My question is do I have to wait for a couple of days to find out if the gas cap was the problem? Can I reset the computer myself? Is it just like reseting an oil change warning, cause thats simple.

my friend had the same problem..
<he has toyota 4 runner with K&N filter>
he told me that..
toyota's mass air flow sensor is very sensitive
and after market filters (intake) are more vulnerable to
dust than OEM filter with box..
(at least that's what he told me... )
anyways his engine light is always on and off...
so he changed his air filter to OEM factory box and solve the problem..
i don't know if this is the same case, but... anything is possible...

Yes you can reset the computer yourself either by pulling 2 fuses or disconnecting the negative battery calble for 10 minutes or so. There's a good DIY on how to pull the fuses, try doing a search for it. If you do the battery method you will lose all of your pre-sets like the radio.
If it comes back on in a day or two then you have a problem.

had the same problem when a couple of friends and i tried to install my fujita intake. thing was, we were working on the nav hack and the vaistech SLI install at the same time, and when we turned on the ignition (pressing the button without pressing the brake pedal) to test the SLI unit we had the airbox out and the air flow sensor removed. when we started the car the VSC and check engine lights came on. but after driving the car around, i suppose the 2is engine management system normalized itself and the lights went away. haven't had an issue since.

I looked in the Owner's Manual and it says that the fuses are located in "Engine Compartment (type A)" and that they are numbers "12" & "22". Im pretty sure these are the ones to yank out.
Any objections?

the problem with K&N filters is the oil they are coated with. over time the oil coats the MAF and causes it to read improperly.
