Red face Memory Seats gone wild

Greetings! I am generally new to this forum, have read a lot but posted little. Proud new owner of an IS350 (3 weeks ago). Love the car. I'm having an issue with the memory seats and thought I'd run it by you guys. In general, they seem a bit quirky at best, but here's a specific sequence that is reproducible.

I have set memory setting 3 also to some normal-ish positions, just for the heck of it. So none of the 3 are the crazy settings that it sometimes chooses to go to when we push either 1 or 2.

I'll definitely mention it at the dealer on my freebie 1k check-up. But is this some kind of user error or expectation error on my part? In general, say I get in an unlocked car, when should I be able to push button 1 and have it go to my settings?

        Thanks!

What happens if wifey gets in the car, starts the engine, and THEN pushes her memory button? Maybe pushing the buttons without car running has something to do with it.

With car running yields same results as with car in IGNITION ON mode. Good question though, I should have included that in my problem statement and supporting facts

You don't mention having your steering wheel tilt away when you turn the engine off. I doubt this will help, but may be worth a try - maybe if you have it tilt away, it will make a difference. I don't see why it should, but programmers make mistakes. I've noticed that my passenger side settings have been lost, for no apparent reason.

I think the answer to your specific question is 'after starting the car, in Park'.

Wow! Thats interesting. Never had that kind of problem before, but I do get irritated with the memory seats sometimes when you try to change the settings when the car is off. For example, on my experience, when I get in the car and my gf setting(2) is still in place I just press my settings(1) and it moves fine. Also I set the #3 setting to move all the way up close so my back passenger can get in the back without kicking the seats. So after my passenger is sitting and ready for me to set my settings back to #1 it doesn't seem to move. I press the other settings or keep on trying to press my settings(This is all done with the car being off). So then I close my door and re-open it, and it works fine afterwards. I've even had sometimes this procedure hasn't worked and I need to either start the car or have it on "IGNITION ON" mode. So I'm really curious if this is a problem also with the car, or it just allows you to move the seat ONCE while the car is off.

I think it is because you left the car unlocked; therefore, the settings from HER key fob may still be there or vice versa. Just lock the door and when one of you guys go for the car in the morning, unlock it with YOURS or HERS key fob. Just a hunch.

I'm hoping for a fixable error - some combination of park/start/lock is pretty much unacceptable. It's a freakin memory seat - US car companies have it down pat - how hard can it be?
