It searches each FM station's RDS tag for a 'Traffic' designation. For example, here in Pasadena the 'traffic' station is 89.3 KPCC (the local National Public Radio affiliate). It's one of the features you might use a handful of times you own your car - it's a wasted button IMO.
If you hit the button when you are in traffic, (2) .50 Cal guns and a grenade launcher pop out of the grille and clear the path in front of you.
I would have preferred (2) Klingon Disruptors and a Romulan cloaking device.
Back to the topic though, I do not believe the Traffic scan function finds anything in the Dallas area. I'll have to try it again. However, I like XM traffic and weather.

I've tried it a few times--never had it work. But Phila has an AM station with traffic on the 2's, so if I need traffic, that's usually where I go. Of course, there's no "TRAF" option on AM...
