carchitect weren't you not supposed to spend a bunch of money on this car and save some for your supra??? haha You have the most expensive IS i have seen, and sure enough you are adding to it's value. M is going to be making you drive the Honda soon.

Troy, if you only knew the $$$$ I've spent and the plans I have for the supra you'll more than likely be like WTF!! Supras are BIG money pits. Everyone thought the IS was expensive. The supra's window sticker was over 50K and that was 1994 prices!! You know the saying. Work......,play.........

Alright once I get the progressive MEs and the Tom's front lip. I'll call it a day.

The card MSRP $ 300. The key in the card MSRP $51. Programming cost varies per dealer. I did my own so I didn't need to pay for it since I am a tech here. You'll need to check in with your dealer on costs. Heck they may just do it for you if you bring it in for a 30k service

Nice item and great write up.....but I'll save the money for something I really want. The stock fob works fine and has my house keys on it anyway, so not sure what you are gaining in the end other than the 'cool' factor.

its a RFID that gets us into our cars. Without this and the OEM key fobs we wouldnt be able to open/start out cars.

Cool~ very cool~

How thick is the card-key? I am worry about a fat wallet as result.
How strong is the card-key? My butt may just crack the key in wallet.

edit:
I read an article about Jap is trying to put chips in their driver licenses. The new tech allows adding/deleting both users and vehicles access. I think this is getting close to what I read before.

The card is 2.5 credit cards thick. It has a battery in it also. If the battery goes bad or weak, you can remove the key and unlock the door. The card can then be placed around the engine start switch to start the vehicle using the immobilizer chip instead of the smart access RFID chip. The card could be damaged from stressing it so you will need to be careful. Its a good thing I keep my wallet in my front pocket instead. I should have the key by tuesday and I'll post a pic of the key and the battery in the unit.

This card come standard on the LS600 hybrid. The card can be programmed to the ES350, IS250,350 or the IS-F, GS300/350/430/460/450h (06+) and the LS460. The key (mechanical) is a unique key that is ordered with the VIN number. IMO, You should talk to the parts department regarding this key when you get the smart card. A dead battery and no key would mean the vehicle is locked out of your hands.

I believe the unit that Sewell sells does NOT come with a key.
