Another word: "resale." Of course, there are always suckers like some of the people on here that think Audi is a good purchase.

 

Well I'm new to Lexus, but also currently own two Audis A4, one 98 and one 08. The 08 I bought 3 weeks after the Lexus.

Audi is a great car the 98 has 135k+ miles and keep running great. As I compare my 08 A4 S-line TiT with the 250. The Audi is quicker, brakes way better (yes way better) and handles sportier than the 250 6spd.

But the Lexus although been the base model came very well equipped (more value for the $) the keyless entry is my new “must have” the ML sound (on par with Audi symphony)

But believe me Audi is a great car you won’t be disappointed.

 

I am one of the strange few who never buys a car because of resale. If I drive a car for 7 years (my usual timeline) and it depreciates $2500 more than another car than it cost me about $1 a day to enjoy my ride. So if I threw $1 a day out the car window would I ever miss it? I doubt it. Just enjoy your ride while you have it.

I like the 2nd gen is. BUt think euros are swt as well. here are some pics i had saved a while back when i was jocking bmws and audi's. But ended up with a lex, which i couldnt be happier.

It's quite simple to understand really. Many people think Audi's are better, myself included. I prefer Audi styling to BMW, and they can rival BMW's for handling as well. Fit and finish is actually better on an Audi, and as far as electronic gadgets are concerned, Audi is head and shoulders ahead of BMW. Infact Audi is probably the closest you can get to Japanese luxury brands from a German vehicle when it comes to all the gadges and creature comforts.

I'm with Larrym9681 on the resale deal. I've never bought a car based on resale value, infact, it has never even crossed my mind when looking at new vehicles. Lets also not kid ourselves, Lexus resale values aren't all that great, no matter how badly the dealer might want you to believe it.

EDIT: If you think BMW is more "luxurious" than Audi then either you have not sat in a BMW, or Audi or either one.

 

From the sig, looks like the OP goes through cars at a rapid clip (i'm down with that ). "Resale" is an important consideration if you plan on trading quickly or getting out of a lease early.

Most of the people on the Audi boards (who have owned both) don't feel that way.

 

I say go for it. The new TT looks better IMO than my current body style. And if I didn't have my STG3 kit on my quattro TT now I would probably be looking at getting the new TT-S or even better then new TT-RS...but I think the Audi S5 is actually going to end up taking my money

As I have own many Audi's over the years, from the B5 S4 to my current one now, you do have your share of issues on the car. But without a doubt I would never complain about the car, since it repaid me in having complete fun on and off the track. As I have driven both the new 2.0 TT and TT 3.2, they both are more fun than the IS350 from my experience. Sorry, but as all of you have opinions I do as well.

The TT-S will be a fun car to have. The only problem I have with the car is the exhaust note... but seeing that this is the S3 engine I know that the engine is going to be a beast when the tuners get their hands on it.

 

Werd to that... I think it looks even better than the TT, plus you get everyday userbility and space.

 

not too bad actually...I never EVER pay MSRP...even the TT would be about $7500 off MSRP. I work for an airline and find deals all over the US; fly for free and drive them home.

 

The TT-S looks awesome. Nice car and will be fast with its turbo motor and a simple tune.

 

good looking car, but not for me.

 

Audi is a viable alternative. Love German cars
