I keep mine just below the click. If you have navigation, the navigation display will switch to night mode (when the headlights are on) when the dash is NOT at full intensity. If your headlights are on auto, your headlights will come on automatically as it gets dark and your navigation will switch to night mode soon after when it gets darker.

Thanks for the reply. I guess in a safety sense, Lexus may promote safer driving. Mine turns on a 78 mph and on Chicago highways at times, you are still getting passed. That amber warning light make syou think you are beating on the car. It is like "Knight Rider" gone bad with that circular grid illuminating.

Thanks for the replies.
When I used to use auto mode for my headlights and I went under and overpass or something like that, I would see my dash lights quickly change from day to night mode and back again. I just figured it was the auto sensor working and flicking the headlights on and off.
So now that I'm off of auto, I still saw my dash lights change modes this morning automatically. Is this normal?

You are correct. If I turn my lights on during the day, the navi will stay in "day mode". However if I drive under a bridge or into a dark spot, the navi and instrument cluster will switch to night mode until Im back in the daylight.

Yes, the navi does not go to night mode on just because the lights are on. It goes to night mode shortly after the headlights come on. I guess the navi's sensor is set to be more sensitive to light.
