How'd you get that to happen? I tried with a phillips and they just twirl, as if stripped... I don't think they are functional screws on 08s, just clips (but I could be wrong)

I am sure 07 and 08 are the same. They are not going to redesign something like that. They would rather just fix the ones people complain about. Most people don't have the time or the patience to get something like this fixed, so it would cost less fixing on a case by case basis rather that redesigning it.

My friend just took in his 07 for a passenger side rattle. I need to take in my 06 for the gauge cluster rattle, I've just been lazy.

Easy way to tell is to try to unscrew them. In mines, if I loosen them they come out. They did feel very loose, but after about 10 revolutions, I started to feel a slight bit of resistance. I stopped then because the screw was starting to strip.

Were any of you guys noticing strange noises from inside the odometer cluster? Almost like an electric charge/crackle noise?

maybe a very tight, squeaky, plastic sound from the odometer area, but it was faint.

but naw, not a electric charge sound

Default Dredging up old thread but...

Just got a new 2010 IS250 and the plastic window for the gauges is squeaking like a mother f'r!!! I tightened the screws but it seems like they never actually got tight, just spun in place. So I guess I'll go to the dealer and complain...there's a scratch they need to fix anyway. I think with these forums, its just nice to know your not alone.

Sorry for a noob question, but what's TSB/TSIB? I see it all over forums and don't know what it stands for.

BTW, I'm taking my car to the dealer this Saturday along with some other minor issues that I have. This shouldn't cost anything right? Mine's an '08 with 48k miles (as long as I do it before I got 50k)?

^ TSIB= Technical Service Information Bulletin.

I had this same squeak around the gauge cluster after about 5,000 miles of driving. Took it to the dealer and they fixed it by adding more insulation and padding. They seemed to know all about this squeak. Must be a fairly common thing.

I just had the rattle in the cluster area fixed today from Lexus of Bellevue. A few days earlier, I gotten a hold of the service manager so he can sit with me in the vehicle for a test drive on the freeway since that was the best way to reproduce it. Once that was done, it was good to go.

The solution they did was to apply felt tape to various areas of the backside trim. That seems to have solved it since when I checked it myself, I put my thumb in and usually push up near the screw hole and it did not make a sound where it used to before, and notice it was a bit harder to push up as it seemed more rigid too.

They also replaced retorqued the fuel sensor and replaced the gasket (as per TSB) - plus free reful tank of Chevron Supreme gas!
