Myth Busters did a segment on fingerprint locks. They defeated it with a simple photocopy of a fingerprint. I don't know if I would entrust the front door with that kind of security.

I'm not a security expert, but I suspect that the process of identifying a fingerprint that belongs to an authorized user of a fingerprint lock, lifting it, and doing whatever Mythbusters did to turn it into a suitable photocopy for fooling the lock is no easier than picking, bumping or raking a traditional pin-tumbler deadbolt.

I have a key ring in my center console. It has my House key, Salon Key, Safe Key, Condo Key, My sisters house key, and my old GS400 key.

the smartscan biometric lock uses subdermal finger print scans.. not sure how you would make a subdermal photocopy

i plan on installing one of these in my house as soon as it's complete

My thinking is: If you can defeat my biometric lock, get past my alarm system, and somehow get into my electronic safe......I'll have plenty of time to get cocked and locked with dead aim at your head, so give it your best shot......and I'll do the same

If someone wants to get into your house . . . they will find a way. Windows are easy to break. In most house the alarm is based on opening the window. If they break it and don't open the alarm doesn't go off.
Our cars have the same problem with the window thing. They can break into your car without the alarm going off. If they don't open the door they are safe not your property.

It sucks but I've heard too many stories about B&E's.

I keep my fob and house keys in the same pocket although my house keys are on their own key ring and the fob is on its own.

This is true, but there are also internal motion sensors, glass-break sensors and a host of other nifty additions that can help.

So if somebody stole your car, hit home on your GPS, then they clean you out in 30 minutes? You should never keep so many keys together, especially ones you don't regularly use, and in a car where it tells the user exactly how to get to your house.
