I have an 08 that I've owned now for almost a yr and 9k mi and I've not experienced any of those issues. That really sucks!

In my 3000GT, what I do is move the shifter into 2nd gear before moving to first.

I am not sure about the IS... but in my 3000, the shifting gets stiffer in the winter. To fix it, I adjust the clutch a little higher. I dont have an IS MT, so I am not sure if you can adjust it higher.

I experience the same problem with my 06. Ive tried explaining it the dealership multiple times, but nobody understands the functionality of a manual. I even had a tech test drive it and he said he felt no problems. I then asked him how many 250 MT's hes driven in the houston area and he said "maybe 1 or 2." Like someone said before me, they need to do research

Besides the once in awhile "jar of marbles" sound, it's very smooth to me.

The locking that you feel trying to get it into 1st gear, happens to every manual car. When it does happen I just step on the gas a little bit and that usually does the trick.
