The LED light is actually a little useful for finding items when it is dark and you are driving!!! Maybe there will be a mod kit that offers a 4300 k HID bulb in there so when you open the armrest, it will shine like the lights from the heavens. Also, a fog machine and small mp3 player built in can play organ music and have smoke coming out everytime you open it!!!
Do the 06-07's have the LED light inside that same cupholder area??
I know the 08' does...
mine is a '07 and has the LED.
As for the wall itself, I need mine there. i use it as an organizer for the compartment rather than an actual cup holder; tiny objects go in the cup area, bigger objects go at the back.

i find the LED to be very helpful especially when you reach in - for a tiny object- the reflection of the LED on your hand helps considerably
I Just got my plates today, No longer feels like a new car.

However, I just looked up my statute which says the plate must be on the rear of the vehicle and illuminated. Otherwise, it's a "violation" (fine only). Probably not worth the $131 court costs plus fine I'd be subject to if I got a ticket.
lol doesnt your dealership key you in on these? its deffinatly a useful tip having that cupholder come out, its really nice if you dont drive around with cups cluttering up your console (which i hate seeing in cars =p), and makes the center console have alot more room - its annoyng having to have a pencil in the space and it doesnt it, its gotta be tilted up onto the top of the cupholder wall lol
i got my car at a time where i knew more about the car than the salesmen....even simple stuff like with ML one can watch dvds on the navi screen..belive it or not..one of the salesmen i talked to had to go "verify" it when i told him(i didnt buy the car from him)....

from my experience a lot of people who sell things don't know a whole lot about the items they sell. it doesn't matter the product is.
