When I opened this thread and saw the pics I was like oh man this should be good and saw how much snow you got and you said you only got stuck twice. This car must be a completely different animal on snow tires cause it is by far the worst vehicle of the 63 cars I have owned in snow. It is on the factory tires though. I had just left chicago on Monday night in order to beat the storms coming through and get back to Minnesota. Glad I did!

It *IS* a totally different car. It actually isn't the car so much than the tires. The OEM tires are strictly summer tires. I got stuck in Nov 05 with 1 inch of snow and could barely make it home. I got stuck everywhere and ultimately, got stuck at the 1 inch lip of the curb where my driveway meets the street. Anyways, got snowtires ASAP. With snowtires, my IS works better than my ES300 ever did with all seasons. Not quite 4wd or awd, but definitely DRIVEABLE even in really bad conditions. I took it to a parking lot today to see if I could get it stuck in 8-10 inches of fresh snow. I couldn't get it stuck.

Yea I can tell the car was not the issue. Being that I have two other vehicles I just did not want to buck up the 700-800 for snow tires when its pretty rare that I drive it in the winter at all. I have snow tires on my 2wd truck and it is amazing how much of a difference they make. I dont think I will buy another 4wd truck again after realizing how well the tires really work. i am believer!
cb804 I see you're going without the front license plate..... any issues so far?
No problems so far... had the car for about 8 months now. No front plate on my other car either... no issues on that one as well. Can't wait for spring!!!
