Default Wheel Torque

Hey peeps, i plan to paint my brake calipers blue this weekend and was wondering how do i put the wheel back on. I read storys on how peoples wheels were not torqued to the specs and it broke off and what not. How do i know if its the right torque.

First of all you need to have torque wrench if you don't already. The torque on all Toyota and Lexus cars is 76 ft. lbs. Make sure you do a star pattern and then a circle to make sure they are all snug. Just a tip use a socket intended for impact guns or else they can crack easily.

Look in the manual, it will teach you how to properly tighten the nuts, ALSO dont forget, the 'key' nut always goes on farthest bolt from the valve stem ie: if the valve stem is at 6 o'clock you put the key nut at 12 o'clock.

dont use the tools in the trunk... i believe its a 19mm socket. Go buy a hydralic jack, jack stands, those anti roll thingys. Tools in the trunk is for emergency use only, if your at home always be safe and use the right tools.

Borrow a torque wrench from a neighbor. They are expensive and if you don't think you are going to be taking you wheels on and off a lot, then do the borrow method.

dROBB - is correct on the 76lbs
