The OHV engines do "chatter" more than other types .... thats normal. I think thats why Lexus puts those pretty plastic panels over the engine .... cuts down on the noise.

I had posted about this a little while back. It's perfectly normal. I took it to three different shops and all three said that it isnt normal, but the dealership had a look at it and they said this is absolutely normal. In fact, the ticking noise is quiet compared to the GS's...Again i dont know how trustworthy Fresno Lexus is but they said its normal. If you don't see a check engine light, i wouldn't worry about it.

Mods, can we sticky a 'ticking noise' thread or add it to the FAQ so that people won't worry about their cars?

This is the High Pressure Fuel Injectors, btw.

Not trying to be mean (because it worried me at first too), but this question gets asked every few days it seems.

This may have been useful information if our engines were OHV... They're not, they are DOHC.

As mentioned above, the ticking sound is from the direct injection system.
