Sure it does.... roll your window down... lock all the doors...

Wait one minute and come back (leave key elsewhere)...

Reach into your car and try to unlock your front door @ switch or @ locking button..

The alarm will sound and the door will NOT unlock.. the lock will snap back into the locked setting...

Try it..

ill check it out at night, i tested it with the windows up and someone inside and waited maybe 10seconds. Thanks for the tip Joe!

My uncle's camry does this too I guess every toyota models do this trick.

The alarm doesn't fully set until 30 seconds have passed unless you press the fob twice. That's why it didn't work for you.

Even my Supra ('93) does this.

On the lights off issue - I use this trick while keeping the key in my pocket:

Turn lights to On and then back to auto. That turns them off before you get out of the car, and you don't have to find the remote.

or you can just wait or just turn off the lights and not use the auto feature.

Koz, how did you set up to go off when you open the door?
It's an LPS adjustable setting.
