Everybody seems to forget that Lexus is in the luxury business, and no matter how smooth or powerful a 4-cylinder is, the luxury marketplace equates no. of cylinders to luxury. That's just the way it is. No 4 bangers for Lexus, now or in the future.

If they offered it, hell yah!! My wife wants a Lexus but her leaded foot can't handle the power of even my I-6 in my GS (hate to see what she would do in a GS400).

But heres the downside: can you imagine Toyota making the equivalent of the Acura Integra? The Integra or RS has already been dubbed as a teenage ricer car, thats the last thing Toyota would want to do with its Lexus brand. I can't really blame them.

and no the audi 2.0 T is not faster than the lexus is 250...i dont know the 0-60 numbers but from personal experience the lexus just feels faster...

only department where audi wins is handling sorry...

Sorry just my personal experience with TWO NEW CARS with only 3 weeks apart.

MY wife smoke the IS from stand still. Remember my IS is a 6 speed manual.

My previous 1.8T A4, no quicker but handles way better than the IS.
I can belive there is a worst tranny than the one in the IS period.
Sorry to bash our cars, but I have to tell it as I see it.

This two cars if were mobile phones. The Lexus will have the most bells ans lights and features but not that great recption signal. And well with the AUDI you will never had a dropped call. Now I will try to enjoy MY TWO NEW CARS. The Audi and the COROLLA with Tacoma RWD conversion

Remember gang, some I-4 motors with 200hp are very high strung, they make their peak power in the upper RPM range and are gutless around town. Fun to drive when you rev it but dogs just in traffic.

Who knows, with gas prices that will only escalate, I-4 luxury cars, especially in entry level trim, may gain huge momentum in America.

Big NO for me. Never felt a 4-cylinder that would feel at home in an IS, not even from Toyota. The 2.4 in the new Corolla SRS is pretty nice, but it feels like crap in the Camry.

Europe is just different, I-4 is popular b/c of TAX RAPE and GAS PRICE RAPE. In America, we always had cheap gas, thus I-4 became popular only after the gas crisis of the 70s....

Also that Audi you mention is FWD. No thanks.
I could not agree more, and nice descriptive comparison with the Lincoln vs. Acura. The TSX is a loud, gruff and not smooth. It still feels like you are beating on the car being a 4 cylinder.

I kind of regret buy the awd250. the A4 2.0T has about the same hp gets better gas mileage and i think it was a bit more fun to drive.
