After the first free service i dont understand why ppl still goto the stealerships...??? AND THEN when they do go they complain about the prices... come on guys wtf... You take a car to the stealership you gonna pay their price, no one twisted your arm and get plenty of other mechanic shops in every state...

i think there is a difference between a oil change and 10k service. If you tell them you want 10k service, they will throw all kind of junk that they can charge you a lot, like replace air filter(filter maybe 20, and labor maybe another 40??)

but anyway, i will not go to the dealership for any service unless it is free.

What is it with these morons at the Lexus dealerships? Have you ever seen an IS250 or 350 WITHOUT staggered wheels? In the Southeast, you can't even get them (only the AWD comes with 17s - all RWD ISx50s come with staggered 18s from the factory)!

Scary, eh?

My dealership charges $40 for the oil change at 10k, and recommends an oil change and a change of both air filters at 15k. I'll pay the $40 and change the filters myself.

Take it to Toyota for the oil/filter change. Make sure they use synthetic oil. They treat your car just as good there, and the Toyota in my neck of the woods washes your car by hand...no scratching from the drive thur wash. Um...I would question the dealership that tries to rotate ISx50 RWD tires???...can you say rub?

Man you guys are hard on some dealers.

I do think $250 is high for a 10,000 mile service. Although, you DID know what you were going to pay for that service before it was completed, correct?

I dont know about other dealers, but at my dealer, a tire rotation is free with an oil change. Yes, they should not of indicated that they rotated the tires. A lot of times there is a generic Operation Code they use in the computer that lists "Change oil/filter, Rotate Tires, and Inspect Fluid Levels", like as my dealership does. Before the 18" wheels came out, staggered wheels werent really an issue (aside from the sportcross). Its just a careless mistake, but it doesnt mean they charged you for it.

I would say 90% (literally) of the 2IS vehicles that come through my dealer have the 17" wheels on them. Unfortunately its a lack of attention to detail on the dealer's part. I think calling people morons because of this is once again, pretty harsh.

Just my 2 cents, take it with a grain of salt. No one is twisting your arm to go to the dealer, but you are paying for a better quality of work no matter what your opinion is. You are also paying for small things like starbucks coffee machines, danishes, Lexus loaner vehicles, car washes, Flat screen tv's in the waiting rooms, WiFi access, ect ect ect.

Well, I don't know where on the east coast you are from, but the southeast Lexus distributor does not bring RWD cars with 17" wheels into the country (only AWD). Maybe you're from the northeast when the majority of IS cars are AWD 250's ?

Question

When they say "rotate tires", doesn't that mean:

driver side front <--> passenger side front
driver side back <--> passenger side back

Even on non-staggered setups eventually instead of diagonal or front to back, you rotate left <--> right. Right? Or am I think too much into it?

Yes, you can rotate front left to front right and rear left to rear right with a staggered setup if you have non-directional tires. Unfortunately, the best rotation pattern for even tire wear is back to front. And there are posts on this forum that the dealer did just that - put the 8.5s on the front and the 8.0s on the back
