You know, it maybe weird but, I just bought my new 350 and while I was waiting I was looking at the paper with all the pricing and accessories and the car says it has 5% US/Canada Parts and 95% Japan Parts. The final assembly was made in Japan. I'll probablly post up the paper with what it says when I have the time.

It's not where it was made - they're all made in Japan - it's what version of software is in the ECM and what sensors are being used. Japan typically uses MAP with a VE map for determining fuel, where US models use MAF to determine fuel. This fundamental difference is why many JDM ECMs do not work in US model cars and vice versa.

So my question is how does a US State avoid this issue and how is it Hawaii can circumvent the Federally mandated EPA compliance requirements?

On a 2006 IS 250 6 speed Manual w/4,401 miles (No Mods)

Base Run
Max Power 173.3 / Max Torque 162.5

Dyno was done up to 4th gear and SAE Corrected on a Dyno Jet System.

Measurement of percentage of Factory Rated Base HP (204) to Dyno tested Base RWHP (173) was an approx. 15% loss to the wheels.
