Mine is like that.
Actually, the wood is thinly sliced, and applied on a brick-red-colored plate (which is seen on the edge of the wood trim, which is normal on every car). Everyone's wood trim is not made of a block of wood -- it's a thin piece of wood applied to a colored backing.

MY 07 does not have that, but if it did, I would not worry. I am more concerned about the thin laquer coating which scratches easily. I put some Zymol wax on it, and it is as good as new for a bit. I do love the wood interior. Without it, that silver plastic cheapens the interior and I would do a carbon fiber kit. The wood really accents the black interior nicely.

It's good to know that I am not alone on this. It may not be as noticeable and I am not expecting it to be a huge chunk of wood but I would like it to be perfect. I don't notice it as much but when I do, it does feel like a cheap addition and when other see it they would suspect it wasn't real wood. I paid top dollar for the car and I just want to get the best out of it, even if it is as small as this.
Thanks for all the replay, I guess I can consider myself in good company as an upside.
