Hello CL,
I was just curious if anyone else's woodtrim are mine or if it's typical of Lexus' woodtrim. I've noticed it a while back after having the car for a month or so but I never had a chance to take pic or post and ask. I have the Auburn Birdseye Maple and in the center woodtrim, the side of it has a stip or line that is just red. It makes it look cheap like it doesn't belong there. I can't quite put it to words but I took a pic and circled it.

My question is, is this typical? Is this something I can get my dealership to replace since it makes the woodtrim look cheap if you look at it carefully? I'm going to have my first 5k maintenance in a month or so and I was thinking of telling them about it but I just want to make sure if it's something that is out of the norm so I could purse even further with Lexus.
Thanks.

Mine was like that too, it really bugged me. I dunno if its a defect or if its normal. Either way my dash pieces are a completely different color now but before I did wonder the same thing. Once you go in and ask let us know!

If it isn't normal then all the ISx50s I've seen are defective. Mine looks exactly like the pictures, although the contrast between the colors is not quite as high as what I see in the first picture.

It's normal, and it doesn't bother me at all. My understanding is that the wood laminate is applied over a plastic base for strength. So it would appear that for whatever reason they chose to expose the base on the edges, rather than having the wood all the way to the edges.

I slid back the sunroof cover, pulled the car out of the garage and took the picture with the driver's door open and the camera at a certain angle to capture it. The wood's a far sight better than the plastic in the Camry and Avalon.
