[QUOTE=venZon;3309952]Been looking into opening up and painted the headlight housing on the 2IS. I have done acouple on diffrent cars and all have been pretty much the same steps. Is there a DIY on the 2IS? Anyone on these boards do this?

Damn they look amazing .. Clean job mate!
Oh and a question. Your impreza .. How'd you get rid of the amber light on top and make it white? I'd like to do that with my Altima 08 too .. !!
Help would be appreciated!

Yeah the chrome housing has grown on me . Don't think I'll be doing this anymore. I was thinking of color matching the headlight housing starfire pearl.

I did this on my Supra in 1998 and freaked out everyone on the MkIV mailing list. Sealing them is not as big a deal as people make it out to be. The housings are not sealed completely even after you reinstall the lens because there are vents on the housing to allow the heated air to escape when the lights are on.
Silicone is WAY overkill and you'll never get it apart again if you need to. The stuff they use at the factory is just a tar-like stuff you can get from the dealer. It's the same stuff they use to seal the taillight units against the body of the car. They sell it in strips.
