i just got my first "no front license plate" ticket. sucks. i went for 6 months without it being a problem. and of course i get it 4:50am! but i got my ticket from a stupid parking enforcement officer. LA parking enforcement is the worstttttt. my roommate has a TL and he's gotten at least 6 for the past 5 months that i lived with him. the IS looks so much better without a front plate. blahhhh.

I've been pulled over for it 3 times in my SC400. But I get profiled like crazy in that car with a body kit, black rims, red car. But the first cop that pulled me over admitted they never actually write a ticket for it. So I never fixed it. Another cop passed me on the freeway watching me, and dropped back because of my plate to pull me over. Anyways, I do have it on my new IS350, I might remove it. It's the law here in Oregon obviously as I just stated. Another friend of mine did get a ticket for it here, another got a fix it ticket in WA.

Ticketed twice in my 240sx ($10 fix it ticket). Will never put the plate on my new IS350. So far it has not even received a look from any cop. I would think they have plenty of other things to do.

This thread seems to be focused on just getting pulled over or not and how much the tickets will cost. Doesn’t anyone, other than an old PITA boy scout like me, give a rip that support of front plate laws can be a useful law enforcement tool in catching criminals going in the opposite direction?
And before you say, “Well, I’m not a criminal so there's no need to put on my plate” keep in mind that if enough front plates are not installed, then there's no purpose in cops looking at any car going the other way and the tool becomes worthless.
IMO every state should either require them or every state should not have them, so the cops don’t waste any more effort looking in the opposite direction. Frankly, I would prefer no front plates in all states, as my IS and G37 would look better too.

No front plate here in Vegas, currently.
The law used to be "Must have both". Then changed to "front required if OEM mounting provided". This meant if the dealer didn't put on the damn mounting frame, you didn't have to have one.
Now it may not require one at all. On my last new registration they only gave me ONE plate.
Of course, my IS350 was used out of california so I have two holes drilled in my front bumper. Already ordered some bumperplugs.

Pulled over once with the IS300 in CA from CHP for no front plate... $10 fix a ticket
Pulled over last week for No Plates at all... CHP on a surface street..
Asked me to peel my registration jacket off the window.. even after I gave him Lic., insurance and new car explanation...
officer.. "Sir, the reason I am pulling you over is for no rear plate"
Me.. " Hello, ah yes officer.. this is a new car"
officer.. "well I don't know that, just by looking at your car"
me.. "I have my temp. registration properly displayed on the windshield"
officer.. "go a head & Peel it off "
me.. " um ok"
officer.. "thank you.. also please turn off you car so you can save your gas"
Ten minutes later....
officer.. "here is all your ppwk.. plates show issued, so this is a verbal warning to have them mounted... Have a good night"
My Tax dollars at work... Priceless!!!
