Search around, you can find ways to get XM for $77/yr

Activation is free with the new car, and you can get first 3 mos free as well...

I don't think XM has a 'lifetime' offer though as Sirius does

You can also get free activation and 3 free months if you DIY or the dealer installs the factory module. I used promo code XMSCION03 for this a few months ago.

When I got my G37 it came with free XM for three months. I wasn’t a real fan of satellite radio before, but the traffic alert feature, including traffic-flow color coded lines on the nav display and detailed information on upcoming accidents sold me, so I signed up for a year. I understand the traffic-flow feature is not available on IS’s, but I hope it will be included in the future.

Yeah, you need aftermarket nav for realtime traffic, one of the things that turned me off of the factory nav system...

I'm not big on XM for music (my ipod or burned CDs are fine for that and there's several decent local stations too) but I like the comedy channels, the oldtime radio stuff, and a few other odd things... I'm not sure I'd consider it worth full price but at the $77/yr deal it's pretty decent entertainment for the cost... plus prob. moving someplace with very little in the way of good local stations in the fall so the other channels on XM will pick up some value for me at that point

Buy it later, I paid $180 for the whole thing and installed it in about 30 minutes. Most of the time was taking the clips out of the trunk liner. Once you have the liner out, it's 3 plugs and that's it. I didn't even have to take out the smart key module to screw in the mount. Definitely buy it afterwards.
