Default Snowboard in IS250AWD?

Hello, I apologize in advance if this thread has already been discussed, but a quick search didn't quite find the exact answers I was hoping for.

I am considering purchasing a IS250AWD as an alternative to the AWD A4 or 328xi. One large concern on the IS is the lack of folding rear seats. I noticed that one person noted that he was able to fit a board in the back-seat (with room for a single passenger. Have other people been able to manage this? Does more than one board fit (ie could you have two in one of those "carrier board bags")?

I also note the thule/etc. roof rack is an option. Does anyone know how long it takes to add and remove the rack/locks from the car?

thanks!

I put my snowboard in the front passenger seat with it folded down all the way. It won't fit in the trunk nor backseat. Unfortunately the IS is not a good car for snowboarders.

I put mine in my back seat WITH the window down since my board is so damn long. I had a rack on my old car and it took about 15min to get off and about 20 min to put on.

Def. not a car for boarders

u can probably fit 3 ppo in the car and 2 boards in the backseat. it'll be cramped for the rear passenger tho. my board is a 158 in a bag and i can have it stand vertically behind the passenger seat provided i remove the rear seat headrest. theres a lexus roof rack available in canada too.

Default Thanks for the feedback

I appreciae the comments here. Looks like the back-seat is a no-go, so if I do pursue the IS I'd have to add a rack to go boarding.

Anyone have good/bad experiences using a rack? Any problems scuffing up the roof or the like?

thanks

i put it behind the passenger side front seat, 2 snowboards with bindings on, a 158 and a 149 no problem, than i can have up to 4 people total including me, to get it in just move the passenger side front seat all the way forward and than up, after putting in the snowboard u can move it back

i personally use a yakima rack for mine. but before i put em on i make sure there is no dust or dirt so it won't scratch. Takes 5 min to take off an put back on since they are already set to the car. just clip n unclip. Been to tahoe 5 times this year and no problems or scratches on the roof. I love the traction on the awd. no slippage whatsoever. i went the past weekend when it was coming down and no problem with the snow ect on and no chains. I tried to make some donuts but no go, the trac control takes over and wants me to keep going straight.

Heres some pics from last year.

Default Rack in Canada

You can order a Lexus Roof Rack from Lexus Canada:

Here are pics from someone else:

I am thinking about purchasing it for surfboards. Right now I throw the 6'2" in the passenger seat with it folded down, but if my wife wants to go there's no way to fit her 7'6" in there.

Really it's more about time for an SUV, but the wife wants an IS too!

Snowboards will not fit through the ski pass in the back seat. What I would do is put them in the back seat w/out bindings and you can fit a whole lot of boards. I have the THULE rack and it comes off in 15 minutes. The mounting points on the roof are very good, doesn't scratch up the paint and I'm very an*l about scratches on my car. Here are some pictures. If anyone is interested, I'm willing to part my rack since I have an SUV now for my snowboarding trips.
