Default Is350 Vs. Gto

well i was on sunrise highway the other night over here in NY and i met up with a GTO at the light. it was running a sick exhaust bc this thing was loud. i shifted in tip tronic mode and ran with this guy at the light. i was surprised, me and this GTO was neck to neck then my car was a good 1/2 car lenght in front. i was shocked!, my car is stock! i wish i had this video taped, what is good with GTO's?lol

Some people still love muscle cars. Big engine, lots of sex appeal...little else. Hell, I would kill for an old vette, gto or camaro. I'll pass on the new ones though.

Do you know if it had a 5.7 badge or a 6.0 badge on the rear.

Or, did if have dual exhaust on each side of the bumper (similar to the IS), or did it have it coming out just one side.

If it said 5.7 or had the single exit exhaust (which I suspect it is), it's the 350 hp version, which I believe runs about the same (if not slightly slower) as a mustang GT (see other thread).

If it said 6.0 or had the true dual exhaust, then it's the newer 400 hp version.

But, the cars weigh a couple hundred pounds more than the IS

+1. If you would have let the transmission in full auto you would have beat the GTO. It amazes me how the GTO with all that horsepower isn't a better performer. It sure has a nice sound, though...

Remember the more weight the worse the 60' times. He probably would have pulled you on top. Stop light to stop light, this car is FUN2

the only difference is that for 2k on the GTO he can get a lot more out of it than we can on our cars. Personally, I am surprised the gTo didn't do better. For american car it wasn't that bad and actually great value. Yes I bought a 2is and could have got a GTO. I like the looks of the is much better.

Up top is exactly when he pulled on me....We were going about 50mph when we started and he just kept pulling. I know it was a 6.0 for a fact though.

I had the same experience with a Charger SRT8. Does that thing have a hemi? Yup, and it didn't really help him this time. I could tell he was surprised how a little Lexus could be so quick.

I bet the driver the the GTO missed a shift. The GTO is a fast car, but not consistent in a manual tranny. I can see the IS350 and GTO being very close in acceleration to a point, but get into the higher speeds and the extra power of the GTO will pull it ahead.
