Default D.I.Y. Front Pads

Our IS 350 has only 1500 miles on it as it is a spare car. So I put some aftermarket wheels on it and painted the calipers the same red as the car. After painting the calipers, I installed the new green color "less" dust pads that the bulletin calls for. Well changing the pads takes all of about 2 minutes after you have the wheels off. There is one small clip on the inboard side of the caliper and then you slide out a pin that is about 3 inches long and about 3/16" in diameter. You slide out the old pads change the shims with the anti squeak grease and reverse the process. I'm not saying this is what is needed for a break pad replacement as that requires a good inspection as to what is worn and more cleaning and prep, but I have never seen a simpler setup. That type of R&D is what you pay for when you buy a Lexus!

Maybe this will help some of you DIY guys in the crowd. By the way the wheel torque is 76 Lb Ft.

Next project: AFR Heads, LG headers, & Cam for '02 Vette. Can't wait. I just retired yesterday and I am ready for FUN!

Congrats on the retirement. You're a few years ahead of most of us, but I ain't that far behind. I'm probably further behind than I think if you're IS 350 is your 'spare' car. Mod out.

Supra TT brakes are just as easy, and they came up with that design 16 years ago. The hardest part is retracting the pistons, and that's pretty easy too.
