Let's clafiry the question:
You want to change the Nav system, or do you want to change the audio system?![Confused](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif)
Both Nav systems of the non-ML and ML versions are the same.
However, the audio player is different. Non-ML players are CD only, has one less speaker, and has a completely different configuration and set-up. ML players are CD/DVD compatible, and is not a simple "plug-and-play."
In other words, if you want the ML system on the non-ML vehicle, you will need to change the speakers and its configuration; change the audio wiring to link to the Nav screen, shifter, and parking brake; and pay $$$ for labor alone...

I was able to install Navi+ML in my cousins car without Nav. So the Amp/Center channel are not requirements. The navi "knows" that the ML amp isnt there, and will not use 5.1 digital audio
You need the video cable though. I am not sure if you can buy that seperately.

Nav w/o ML = CD player w/o surround sound quality, 12 instead of 13 speakers.
Nav and ML = CD player with ML surround sound quality.
Nav+ML = DVD player with video capability, with ML surround sound quality.
Therefore, the DVD player is what you are missing, and you would need to integrate the DVD player with the Nav screen to play DVD videos. Not an easy nor inexpensive task, but it can be done if your technician knows what they're doing...

Also, let me clarify that the ML option plus the Nav option is different than ML+Nav.
Nav w/o ML = CD player w/o surround sound quality, 13 instead of 14 speakers.
Nav and ML = CD player with ML surround sound quality.
Nav+ML = DVD player with video capability, with ML surround sound quality.

ML is 14 speakers (10 in the doors, 2 in the rear shelf, 1 sub, 1 center), non-ML is 13 (12 in the doors, 1 sub)
For those playing the option code home game as well-
NV- Nav (stock stereo, 13 speakers)
ML- Mark Levinson Audio (no nav req- 14 speakers)
VN- Nav+ML (this one plays DVDs, nothing else does)
The fact the VN option includes the DVD changer is why it's a fair bit more expensive than if you priced out the NV and ML options by themselves
