I wouldn't feel too bad, $20 is fine. especially if they washed the car for you (LOL). Dirt does get into the roof rails rather easily. I just opened my sunroof for the first time in 8 months, and I had to clean out the housing because of dirt. I have not had the noises yet, so I guess I am lucky. There was a member on CL that had a whole new glass and integrated seal assembly replaced for free under warrenty for the same issue two or three weeks back.
Do you think changed the entire glass will eliminate the noise?

Anyway so I wash my car today and I was going to clean the moonroof, but there's nothing to clean? its not dirty at all. Just a little dust and I dont' think that's causing the issue.

ordered it, tried it, didn't work. i'm taking it to the dealer and let them figure it out. it only happens when angled into or out of my driveway going over the gutter. makes a sound like metal clanking on metal somewhere in the roof. weird but true. could there be something loose in the sunroof mechanism? who knows, i'm just tired of bothering with it.

I bought my 2006 350 used with 13K miles on it, so I didn't know if that sound was normal or not. Anyway, I took it into Lexus and below is the transcript from the visit:
CONCERN:
Guests requests to check for abnormal wind noise from sunroof area. Check & advise.
CAUSE:
Sun roof seal has shrunk
CORRECTION:
Road test. I hear air passing over the top of the vehicle but no air leaks. Road tested a like vehicle that was the same. Road tested another vehicle that was much quieter. Ordered sun roof seal. Replaced sun roof seal. Road test wind noise is gone.
Aside: I was highly impressed that they tested TWO other vehicles to see if the problem is present there as well.
Anyway, They fixed the problem. However, about 6 months later, the noise is back, and at this point I just don't care.

i had the same problem, the dealer told me it was normal. the loaner i had was silent.
i read somewhere that someone had to get there entire roof replaced to get the seal replaced. cant remember specifically where i i saw it. did your whole roof get replaced?
