haha, there is no such thing. they are slow. buuut

I set my rpm warning light orange thing so that when it comes on, it is timed right so i can hit the paddle and it shifts on time just before over-rev

They are useless, it is faster in drive. They are only good if you are bored driving home late at night.

Agreed...The paddle 'shifters' don't really shift. They just dictate which max gear the automatic can go into. So if you really max out the RPMs you can kind of shift..but its still the automatic running the show

Put it in PWR and stomp on the gas. That usually works for me

IMO the paddles are a joke. They only look cool......I wonder if a program update could make them respond quicker

I'm new to the IS myself. I don't use the paddles because I too noticed the delay. Kinda a joke if you ask me. They do look cool to your passengers though!

Agreed for me as well. I never use them. I never used them in my Gen1 as well. I do like the look of them though. Does anyone know if it is real titanium? I believe it is.

It is not plastic, it is an alloy of some sort, but I remember reading it was a Titanium Shift Paddle. Does anyone else know for sure?

I don’t use them at all. When I’m in the mood to drive in a performance way, I am holding the wheel with a proper 2 hand setup and the shifters aren’t even in the right spot. Worse when the wheel is actually turned. I rarely even use the auto shift mode. I have actually learned quite well now how to manage the cars RPM and gears in sports mode. It does an amazing job of shifting up on braking on its own for street use. Drop into a corner and prepare to apex, hit the brakes hard as usual before the corner (and release before turning into it as you start hitting the gas for the corner) and the auto will shift down low and drop the RPM's up pretty perfectly for the corner depending on your speed and such. Weakest link I have found in this senario on my IS350 is the brakes. They just dont stabize the car well (as say compared to the Brembo's on my old Sti or the stock brakes on my S2000's)

I find the paddles fun, and if used properly they are great, you have to shift ahead of time, and its basically to PREVENT shifting to the next gear at the wrong time. In auto, when you release the gas, it will up shift...now if you wanna keep that gear so when you exit the corner you are in the powerband, you gotta do it via paddle or stick...so dont think of it as a shifter. think of it as a shift PREVENT. I was in the canyons and after 5 minutes, it got very intuitive, and quite fun...an enjoyable thing. When thinkong of it in this mode, there is no lag on upshifts as the car is doing them when its appropriate....
