What's happened has already happened. No use getting mad about it when it's already going to be resolved. Might as well make the best of it.
Last time I got rear-ended on the highway, when we went in for estimates, the guy doing the estimate thought we were best buds. Nothing wrong with making the best of a bad situation.

This post was for a girl striking the OP's vehicle, not a guy (LOL). Yes regardless of the appearance, should constitute a boot to the rectum if the person was under the influence. There is no excuse for putting other peoples lives at risk.
