I was parked at a redlight at approximately 2am when some chick driving a Civic decides to slam into my car and hitting two others.
Well, my rear bumper needs to be replaced. Surprisingly, only damage sustained was costmetics.
Well that was last Friday and its been a week later and I still haven't called the insurance company. Her car was towed and I got a police report along with her insurance information.
How long do I have before I have to notify the insurance company about the accident?

Right away....its always a good idea to contact their insurance after you file a policy report.
It depends on the situation but you may need to contact your insurance as well. Its suggested that you should contact them within 48 hours.
Also, its a good idea to call because you will still have recollection of what happened when they ask you detail questions in regards to the time, area, street names, any witness, music level, etc etc.
If their insurance claims fault then your insurance should automatically withdraw from the situation due to that they will not have to pay any money out of their pocket.
Also, there are paper works which you may have to submit to DMV within time frame of accident.

if u have time to post and read this, then u should call ur insurance immediately. last thing u want is for the girl's insurance company determine it wasn't her fault and leave u and/or ur insurance with the repair bill.

Make sure you have no medical issues like whiplash as you need to see a MD or Chiropracter right away. Once you settle and insurance claim, case closed. Be smart and at least get a check up. The insurance company will pay fo rit. I am not sure if you were jolted in the accident.

man, same thing happened to my gf's impreza. estimated damage from an expensive shop = $850.
she gave us $900 cash to stay outa insurance.
took it and went to backyard creation and had joe repair it for a lot less. came up on a little cash out of the whole situation and used it to buy some wheels![Thumb Up](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

Yea, its been a week. I'm lagging, works been pretty crazy and I haven't had the time to call. I'll probably call them tomorrow.
I'm not violating anything am I? I doubt she can lie about the accident, police report, she got arrested for DUI and her car was impounded. Jesus himself can't save her.

actually if you wanted to be a total turd (basically like the rest of america) you could really get a boat load of $$$$$ out of her ins. company. She was DUI and hit you, there is nothing they can argue about there. The DUI makes it even worse. I would make sure you they replace everything including and cover your rental.
since you waited more than a week it doesn't look good on your part at all. No matter how busy you are you can call at your lunch time. No excuse. I work crazy weeks too and I would have managed. That's laziness on your part, but now I just sounding like a jerk.
Glad you are ok, and sorry about your car.
