To paint a (dramatic) picture, I will start the story by saying, it was a cold sunny afternoon as I was making my way diligantly to downtown Chicago while still in the suburbs. As I proceeded northbound on Archer Ave in light traffic, I came upon a mine field similar to those on the DMZ between north and south Korea. It was as if Satan himself took the earth from underneath me. With the speed limit 55mph and the rapid decline in gradiant within the road, it made it impossible to view this series of pothoels. As I hit the hole, nearby animals in the quiet effort to gather food for their young had stopped dead in their tracks and you could feel the wind move from their heads as they focused on the impact. How does that do (LOL)?

Right there with ya on the potholes, absolutely SICK of hitting 'em and no way to see 'em anymore. I was just going to look at wheels again when I came across your post....

That road would be considered as nice or at worst case *normal. Roads over here got trashed this winter with alternating high and low temps.

Illinois makes me weary of getting new rims and dropping the ride. It was bad enough for my old car being dropped with 215/45/17's. And to think, up here in Lake County things are worse then that.

Glad it was just the rim and tire and not the car.

Pot holes eat rubber bands on rims for lunch.

Got to have a little profile and high pressures.

The advantage of cast wheels is they are fairly easily repaired to true.

Roads do suck in Illinois now, the best part is that they dont have the funds to fix the roads for atleast a year :*(

Oddly enough, it is easier to get paid on the damage caused in the city limits as oppose to the suburbs.
