I downshift hard all the time, you know when the lil chirp goes off...and yeah my car seems to like it.

from 4th to 2nd gear and such, high RPM's, chirp will not let me go down any further. I was worried at first but then just said screw it, just drive it hard, and have fun. It is just when I do not wanna brake and use the gears to cut down on speed.

I have always driven hard on Toyotas and they last forever with no issues. Go figure!

I'm not sure about everyone else, but I find it very easy to smoke all 4 tires simaltaneously on my 250 AWD while maintaining a 5,000 RPM. It might just be my stock motor with no mods (LOL).

i've read a couple times over that w/ this car warming up isn't necessary. lobux could shed light on this

or the fact that the roads you're smokin the tires on are cold. you live in IL and its march. or your tread is about shot

You do realize I was kidding? I have a 250 and furthermore, the AWD. I couldn't smoke the tires even if I was driving through a tobacco field.

Just an FYI....downshifting to save brakes puts more wear on the clutch, which costs a LOT more to replace.

Lobux has already weighed in on this. Driving the car is the best way to warm it up, but one shouldn't "beat on the car" until it has been running at least 10 minutes. His comments here: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...71&postcount=9
