Well, hopefully, you are right and Lexus is enjoying good resale values right now. CarMax usually pays several thousand dollars (15%-25%) under KBB trade-in. Still more than most dealers, but not like the old days when you could pretty much guarrantee trade in or more on any car in decent condition at CarMax.

I also agree with a previous poster - the retail prices of 2 year old cars are more than you can buy one new, if you negotiate a couple hundred over invoice! Who on earth is buying these used Lexus at those prices?

The invoice of the base is $30,000 I believe. I won't be paying a cent over invoice either..

So I think your $48k price was either not the best deal or way overboard on options.

I agree.

I got my 06 IS350 from Nalley Lexus in Atlanta for 36K even. It is base with no options other the summer tires and 18'' wheels. To be paying over 45K for any IS (not F ) is ridiculous.

Well neener neener neener, I think not getting some key things such as NAV, ML, sports and a nice clear bra and not paying $48K for them is rediculous. we can all play this game.

Maybe you just bought yours when the model came out, but I just specced out your car (2008 new) on Edmunds:

IS350 Sport Package, Navigation Package:

http://www.edmunds.com/new/2008/lexu....html?action=2

Total with Options
MSRP: $43,125
Invoice: $37,643
What others are paying: $40,311

I still have my IS350's windows sticker with $48000 MSRP listed on it, want me to scan? I actually got it for $1000 of MSRP and waited 3 months for it to come in. Not the best deal but at the time of course it was great since the wait was 3 months on it. Dont go comparing it to a new 08 with less options and much less demand.

Good luck with your insistence that, "I won't be paying a cent over invoice".

If you want to get a basic model that is your prerogative, but don't diss those who have options such as Nav/ML/Sports Package/Ground Effects/Spoiler/XM/Lexus Optional wheels (G-Spiders, ISP, or X), etc. These options make the car more enjoyable and will quickly push the cost northward. Mine topped out at MSRP of $49,000. Whether you think that is going overboard is immaterial. Many buyers want a fully optioned vehicle, some don't. It is buyers choice.

cmon he did not diss. Dude just being honest. We share our experiences (CL forum).
That is just a lot more than many of us have payed for a 350.
49K for a 350? My goodness... I will leave it at that.

Nav and ML, plus Sports, plus Pre-collision, plus Park Assist, plus headlamp washers... that'll get you to 48k MSRP on an 08. I suppose you could slap some G-spiders on there to jack it up a bit more.

(what others are paying on the above 48k car is about 45.5k BTW, and that's a couple years later with lower demand)

Invoice on said car is 41.5k

So if he got all of the above options then what he paid, when he paid it, isn't at all unreasonable.

Now if it was -just- the couple of options in his sig (Sports, Nav, and ML) then yeah, I hope he got a free case of vaselline with that purchase... But if he got PCS, that's almost another 3k to MSRP alone, closer to 3500 if PA is on there too

In addition, I bought it for sticker price which was 38.5K and with tax, wheel insurance, and stuff it came out to a touch under 42K. So for 28 month usage with 26 K miles I paid a total of 14K. That's like 500/month at 12K a year with 0 down.

I don't think you can lease an IS350 for less than 500/month with 0 down - can you?
you could get a 250 stock with 0 down for 500 a month...but def not a 350

What options do you have on the car? luxury, sport, premium package? navi? Just wondering, been thinking about switching cars and wondering what CarMax offers just cause it easier to go through them then a private buyer.

If you consider “getting bent” pointing out that you just insulted a lot of people on this board that bought fully loaded IS350's then so be it. As you can see by the following responses.
