I would think it would be possible if you knew what you were doing with a soldiering iron. You can see the led when you remove the overhead lighting assembly. It's not that hard to get to. If memory serves, I think the leads might have a 90 degree bend to them, but I it don't think it would be too hard.

You can obtain the new LED at radio shack and soldering is very easy. Make sure not to bridge the positive and negative. Use little solder or the exisiting solder.

I would leave the map light (that's what it is called) if you changed it to blue it would barely illuminate anything. I find it very useful during night drives, you can still see everything around the console without being blinded by our spotlight-type lights.
I agree it would look cool, but from a functional perspective, I feel it wouldn't be worth it. but to each his own!
