I purchased all MTEC bulbs to match the factory 4350K HIDs. Here are some before and after pictures. I don't understand why Lexus don't match the lights to start with.

I tried b4 reading some posts about DRL bulb replacement. I got silverstar to get a clear/white look for DRL only to find out after that a lower wattage is used for DRL so it still looks dim/yellowish. I want to try the smt 9005 leds. To get that bright white look for the DRL.... Think it work instead?

Is the "DRL Light and Fog" in the after part really DRL? I thought the DRL is the inner light... seems like low beams + fogs.

The low beam HIDs have to be on in order to turn on the fogs.

The DRL is just a tiny little 194 bulb sitting in the same housing as the 9005 high beam bulb. The DRL stays on when the low beam HIDs are on.

DRL is high beam bulb running low power. This might help clarify.


Engine running and lights are off.



One twist on the wand turns on parking lights, DRL stays on.



Another twist (before auto) turns off DRLs, parking light stays on and lows turn on.

Your right, sorry for the confusion. The 194 bulb sitting next to the 9005 high beam is a parking light (not DRL). I will modify my first post to say, "Parking light and Fog light".

OK guys, DRLs are high beams right.. I want to change the DRLs for LEDs but I did not know that DRLs do two jobs. Now, if I change the DRLs on my is350 what could use or do in order to use they as high beams too without doing a mess. Thanks you.
