To the owners of SGM IS's: How well does the paint hide dirt? Right now I have an Obsidian Black which of course doesn't hide anything. I'm wondering what it would be like if I had made a different choice.

+1 on the dirt showing no matter. SGM does hide it a little better than the black cars (depending on the dirt)... IMO Salt etc. shows up and red clay (big problem in Alabama) definitely clashes with the paint and can be seen easily. However, your rain/water spots etc. covers the luster and shine but wont show as prominent as other items until you get up close. Basically, like any color, you wash it and it will look sleek, don't and it wont!

yea but you guys dont got it as bad as us 'white' owners... all we have to do after a detail is just drive 1mi to a supermarket, come back home and... well... our rear bumpers get dirty sooooo fast....

SGM gets about as dirty as black, but long term it will be better. It does hide swirl marks and minor scratches better.
I owned a black Maxima before my 350, and I'll never go back to black.
Black sure is damn sexy when it's clean though. SGM is great too, but just doesn't have the same...WOW! factor.
I found SGM a good balance between loving black for looks and hating it for scratches, and not liking silver for looks and loving the clean factor.
Sometimes I'd love to bring my car through a car wash if I had silver....but just doesn't do it for me looks-wise.
If your only regret between buying black and SGM is the "Clean" factor...you made the right decision. No noticeable difference there.
OK, I'm rambling...goodbye

Does this count as dirty?:

That's after running on salty roads for only 3-4 days. I gave up detailing during this season. I'm going to the car wash every 2-3 weeks now and that's it!

+1 to all posts in this thread :P
I live up in Montreal, and our roads in winter are always salted.
So after a month of not washing the car, I'd swear the car looks silver, lol

Always dirty. After washed, stay inside garage, next day, cover with dust. I Love the color though. I always owned white car, want something different, just can't keep it clean...

But it looks so good.
I know what you are talking about with the pollen. I use to live in Mississippi and there were pine trees that would pollen ate every year for a couple weeks. Of course it always started after the weekend I detailed my black accord. It didn't help to live right next to the "Whispering Pines Golf Course".
