I drove a loaner that had it. It is nice but dont recommended if you tint the front windows. It is too dark to see out of them with the tint.

I have them, but never use them. Nice for show though.

auto dimming makes the mirrors really dark.. i usually turn them off everytime unless it is really sunny. does anyone know if we can keep the autodimming feature off? because i have to turn it off everytime i start my car

I have this option and I really like it. I also have tint, but mine is not very dark and so I havent experienced anything others above have. The combination of rear view inside & outside mirrors works really well IMHO.

the side mirrors are not bad but the rear view mirror can get really dark for me. when i disable the autodimming on the rear view mirror, it looks 10x brighter

i have to agree with most of replyers here.. if u tint ur front windows dark, i dont recommend having side mirrors that are auto dimming. hard to see, dude!!

As said before the Luxury pack and Sport pack (IS350 only) carry this option. There are other unique features you recieve with this option so before you opt out look it over. Most everyone would rather have one of these two options rather than the conventional premium pack that 80% of the 2IS out there come with.

They are tied to the switch on the inside mirrors--you turn that off too?

I have them with the Lux Pkg, and I didn't think they were a big deal till I drove in my Pilot that just has the autodimming rearview. I had a Jeep behind me, and the lights in the sideview mirrors was blinding me. I wasn't getting the car without the Lux Pkg, anyway.

I think this is exactly why I don't notice it; I have never been blinded, so it doesn't even occur to me, but they must be working.

Yeah, in previous vehicles I actually installed a dimming rear-view because of how nice it was at night... and always wished there was a (non insanely expensive) way to have the side ones autodim too... when I saw the 2IS offered this I was very happy
