Default nkd83 & kattanh3 swapping cars

nkd83 and i swapped our cars just to check how each of our cars look like while rolling.

I really liked how my car looked (shame it's damaged at the moment - i must have jinxed myself hehe). My driver side exhaust tip was not sitting right and was also moving a lot. i zip tied it and it looks good now. Other than that i was really pleased with the way it looked.

ndk83's car looked really elegant and subtle, i would say executive style.... light tint, 19 TOM's and tanabe springs. His Fox axle-back exhaust + snorkel removal + light TOM's wheels made the car far more responsive than mine. So naturally i just took off my snorkel as well and i must say that the TOM's springs ride much better than the Eibach's, we both have good quality tires with similar dimensions.

Removing the snorkel does make the intake sound much louder, but it will decrease performance substantially.

i aagree it does bog down the car, but marginally, honestly the sound increase is worth the loss in power, heck our cars arnt fast so atleast now they sound fast. lol. Plus i put on the snorkel back on a few weeks ago cause i watned the power, adn then took it off cause i was showin off to some friends of mine how loud it was by simply removing a piece of plastic, and i swear i didnt seem that it lost that much power. I felt it more first time round.
Does anyone have any dyno figures of w and w/0 snorkel? id like to see the power diff. wouldnt it be the same loss of power as a SRI?

and bout pics, this thread is more about how diff the two cars are two drive. visually, u can check both our cars out as we have both posted pics. I know it would have been nice to have a photoshoot and we planned to do one with the TOMS car but we were short on time, so till next time
so for now, this thread is about how diff our cars feelin terms of resposnse and drive, mainly due to our wheels, springs and exhaust.

Removing the snorkel should loose more power than an SRI since it would be pulling air through a square hole with hard edges directly from behind the radiator. With the SRI's, they can at least pull air from all around the cone filter. Of course, the sound from an SRI would be much better too. I was not impressed with the quality of sound that came from mine when I removed the snorkel. It was very raw with odd harmonics. The SRI style intakes that I've had in the past had much better tone.

yea sorry guys this is not a very productive thread, i was just sharing.

But seriously, the unsuspended weight difference is very notable (TOM's being lighter than my Works). I am guessing removing the snorkel would effect us more because of our hot weather but now i love finding excuses to take my car for a spin so they stay off. I'll probably try later on to feed it clean air from front of the radiator or wait for a cold air intake with a functioning heatshield.

i drove today a std IS at the dealership and i have to say, 3 very different flavors of the same car!

ndk83, next time i would like to fit my wheels on your car so i can see how comfy are your Tiens... we'll def take pix as well
