That's dangerous doing that in the freeway!!

Hit the button once while traveling about 5-10 mph. Car turned off immediately.

i did a general google serach and something i found on a nissan forum was that if the car is less than ~7-12 mph (im sure it depends on the car manufacturer), it behaves as if the car is stopped - thus the car shuts off immediately. after that i believe you probably need to hold it down like many poeple have said here.

i cant imagine they just remove the ability to turn off the car just b/c it is moving, they have to give the driver that option.

if you hold it for 3+ sec when the car is moving, the engine will shut off....

Not to hijack this thread or anything but I do this all the time because I wait around in the car a lot on my job. I'm wondering if this is detrimental to the car when it's still in drive and I turn it off?

Btw, does anyone know if there's a better way to continue listening to the radio w/o having to go thru the above method?

I don't think so, never the less I usually shift to "N" before doing this. Certainly nothing wrong with turning the motor off while in neutral, and it works just as well as drive or reverse.

I love the burnt S-Class pic. I thought I was the only idiot that wanted to see what the smart key push button would do in motion. I had two buddies that were adament that I try it. We'll, the car started on fire and basically blew up. No, nothing happened at all. The engineers designed this to be safe and not have it shut-off if accidently hit while in motion.

I have never been tempted to do this (scared my car would look like the one in that picture..LOL). I don't like trying experiments on my car(s).

Thanks for the trick guys. Could I use it to continue on the mobile through the cars blue tooth? Would beat letting it pollute for nothing.

The technician told me that your car will stop and blow up....he told me with confidence.
