Default Push Button Start/Stop Question

What happens if you push the On/Off button while the car is in motion? I am reluctant to try it.

There was a disscussion about this a while back. some one tested it out on a loner car and if you press it while in motion it wont do anything but if you hold it down the cars turns off.

if you hold the start button for more than couple seconds the car will turn off. DON'T DO IT WHILE IN MOTION ...

I guess I should bring some real experience here. I've actually done this, and the car does not turn off if you hold the start button while in motion. This isn't "I think," or "I've heard," I've DONE THIS MYSELF. While traveling approximately 20 mph, I held down the start button for about 5 seconds and the car did not turn off.

Well i was on the phone yesterday and i pressed the off button with the E-brake on but NOT shifted into P. The engine would not turn off(i think?) so i dont think it stops the car while in motion.

I was stopped in my parking spot but with the car in Drive and my girlfriend was going to joke around and press the On/Off button but didn't. I caught that mischievous look and was thinking the same thing so I told her to go ahead and the car shut off.

We talked about pressing the button while moving, she didn't want to do it (She knows how I am with the car) but I went ahead and pressed it (faith in the engineers... shaky faith, haha). It didn't turn off. It didn't turn off at 5mph or 20mph.

Just tonight I parked in my parking garage while talking on the phone. I forgot to shift into P, kept it in D, but put the E brake on. I pushed the Power button and the engine turned off, but the accessories stayed on. Then it beeped, and a message came up telling me to shift to part. So I shifted to park, then had to hit the Power button twice(without pressing the brake pedal) to turn the accessories off.

I do this all the time when I arrive at my destination and want to finish listening to something on the radio. Pressing the start/stop switch without shifting into "Park" is a very convenient way to turn off the engine without turning off the radio.

Lol i tried this about a month ago, i was going about 60mph and out of curiosity i wanted to see what would happen. So i pushed it on/off a couple times, nothing happened.....so then i held it down for about 5+ seconds, the whole car shut off, which was pretty scary because i lost power steering/ brakes, so i justed coasted over to the shoulder....I know it was stupid but i was in the right lane and just went over to the shoulder and turned it back on.....stupid, i know but i jus had to see what would have happned.
