Default "Foot Air Leak" Setting in C-Best

In looking through the detailed c-best personalization settings I see one for "Foot Air Leak". In searching the web, best info I can find refers to the same setting on a Prius that allows outside air to constantly come into the cabin in the driver's foot area. Does anyone know if this is true for the IS? In Indiana in the winter, they like to put tons of chemical down whether we need it or not. I always run in recirculate to avoid that dust coming into the cabin as my wife & I both have allergies and this dust makes it worse. So, anyone out there truly know the use of this setting -does it really allow outside air in no matter what the damper position (fresh<-->recirculate)?

there should be no fresh air on Recirculate. When you have this on doesnt it stop that cool air from coming into the car? I allow the fresh air to come in so i have no comparison for you but that is how it should work. Sure someone else on here uses the rec button and can give more insight!

Actually, I've noticed that even though I don't have that button pressed, there's still air leaking through the foot wells. I checked the old Personalization sheet and there's an option on there. You won't find it on the Lexus Personalized settings that's on their website now, but it's an option.

interesting...but is it still fresh air that comes in when you are recirculating the air?

i'm guessing it would always pull in outside air as opposed to recirculate. if you recirculated air going past your feet, wouldn't the cabin just eventually smell like.... feet?

I noticed this on my car in re-circulate mode and wondered why cold air was blowing in from the outside under the steering wheel. So I am not going insane (at least not yet...as I type this message from my padded luxary suite).

So I wonder why they would do this? I now wonder if the drafts I had in my RX were actually a "planned leak" by Lexus. I blamed the gasket problem they had. I started looking around on my IS as it is still cold here and even with the heat on, my feet would have a cold draft. Maybe one of our Lexus tech members might know.

It's a not so publicized option in the personalized settings. Next time I'm in, I'll have them shut that off as it's annoying during the colder months.
