I remember reading about the TSIB, but in the manual it stills says 5w30, since its not that cold in CA, Ill change it to 5w20 on my next change. According the amsoil the weight only effects the thickness of the oil during cold operating temperatures, but when the oil is heated up the viscosity is the same. for the diff of 0w 5w and 10w

I was thinking of going to Mobil 1 0W40, which is what I use in my 06 vette. I currently use 5W30 in the IS. What do you guys think? I kinda want to simplify my oils into one type. I've been using 0W40 without any problems in the vette. I live here in metro Phoenix area, which can get really toasty during summer. And thus the reason for 40 weight.

I dont think 40w oil will give more protection?

doesn't most engine wear/damage occur at startup?

Sure does..the engine is cold and the clearances in the motor are larger than when at normal operating temp. That's why they say not to beat on the cars when they're cold..
