If you can afford extra options, do it. If you can't, don't. It's more an issue of what things you want, though.

Welcome and congrats on getting a new car.

I would say it all depends on what you really want in a car? Sure you can buy a base model and add certain stuff on to it later, but then again depending on what you want to add on can be very costly (more than if it just came with the car at the time of purchase).

I think you'd want the sports package. If you get base model with nothing, it'll feel more like a camry. The options make it a Lexus.

One of our Moderators, JavyLSU, has a base (no-options) IS350.

However, it is completely hooked-up now...

I consider my IS350 pretty basic, since it only has premium package, HIDs, and 18" rims/tires.

hahaha you will catch the mod bug! welcome. get what you can afford and what you want. A base model is perfectly fine, as long as you the driver is happy with it

Ok, if money is tight i suggest only 2 options, the Xpackage and HID's. Thats what i got and i dont regret it one bit, but in my case i was just being 'tight wit da money'

Reasons:
xpac: comes with the basic good stuffs at a good price, look it up.
hid: your gonna add it after anyway and if you get it stock, you can avoid alot of issues (condensation in headlight housing due to improper install/manufacturing defects in the hid kits/the hassle of having to get it later anyway or did i mention that already *twice*)
