Curious: What made you pick the 250 over the 350 or Vise Versa?

$48,000?!? Is that starting pay? If that is, that goood! Over here in Hawaii it's like supposed to be $44,000 but really only like $40,000 or so. Much better now than back then, but still nothing close to what teachers really deserve.

Yup. It actually a little more than $48,000, close to $50,000. Teachers were demanding raises here and they finally got one. It was hard work. Too many late nights, meeting standards, stress.

I chose a 250 because my commute is 90 miles a day and using that 102 hp on a highway where everyone drones along at 70 mph no matter what lane they are in is pretty tricky. Also, saving the money for a house/faster car when I move closer to work.
With houses starting at 500K here in the OC, I need as big a down payment as I can get.

My sister drives a Lexus IS250. Her reason for buying it was because she wanted a reasonably sporty premium car that was above all reliable.
If Lexus sold an IS200 in the US I am sure she would have gotten that. The IS250 is in her own words "too powerful for her".

Lol, too powerful. It accelerates pretty well for 204HP. I thought at first, the IS250 was a step down from an IS300 because of the decrease in number. I figured it would be at least an IS350 and IS400 respectively, but it looks like Lexus numbered them by engine size instead. IS250 for the 2.5 and the IS350 for the 3.5 V6. That's what I think though.......

For me, it was to upgrade from my gen 1 IS300 with about 90k I racked up on it. I loved the gen 1 and knew I would get the 2gen. Living in Chicago, the AWD was a no-brainer with the rough winters an record snowfall. Like other members have stated, the 350 has the unmatched power and I love that, but it was more pratical for me to stick with the ability to get around in bad weather. I made the right decision since I only own one vehicle. The 250 AWD has extremely impressive traction in snowstorms and unplowed roads. This was especially true when I swapped the OEM Dunlops for the Continentals. If I had two vehicles, one for the winter and one for the the summer, I would go 350 all the way.

The major thing for me was the $8000 price difference btw my IS250 with the same IS350. I couldnt justify spending $8k more just for 100hp on the EXACT same car. Just couldnt do it. Plus gas prices have gone up considerably and I'm even more glad that I chose the IS250 over the 350.

At first, I decided to go with the 250 because of the financial situation I was in and at the time it was a big upgrade from my 93 accord so I didn't mind. Then after a year, had to swap for a 350. For one, where I live, there's a few 2IS's and they're all 250 but a couple. And two, had to have more power to enjoy.

I think the only reasons possible why someone would pick the IS250 over the IS350 is:
1) Money
2) AWD option
30 Manual trans option
For me it was money. I really wish I had a 350!

The main reason I got the 350 over the 250 was the power.
I had considered getting the 250 with the manual tranny but ended up with the 350. If I was single and didn't have to carry 4 extra people in my car the is250 would have been adequete. I really didn't have the extra funds to buy the is350 so what I did was compromised.....Instead of buying a fully loaded is250, I purchased a minimally equipped is350 which is still pretty loaded for the same price. I do miss the stick, but the extra 102 hp makes up for it
