Sports package vs. Luxury package
What are the differences between them?
From what I understand, and correct me if I'm wrong, is that the only real differences are that the sports package has the lower sports suspension, while the Luxury package has the maple trim. Is there anything else that I'm missing (you can get nav with the sports package too, right?)?
Which do you have, and which do you prefer?

Lux package has the rear window sun shade/Wood trim..
Sports has sports tuned suspension with the metallic trim (no auburn wood trim), no Sunshade.
Both can have NAV, unless you get sports w/o Nav...
The sports w/o the Nav is the "X package".
Its a matter of needs and wants/personal preference and financial situation.

My advise, get the option package with the goodies you want and IGNORE the sports suspension part of the option package, why? your gonna put springs/coils/bags anyway...

The x package isn't even close to the sports package... it doesn't include the upgraded memory seats, HIDs, rain sensing wipers, upgraded mirrors, etc, etc....
Navigation has -nothing- to do with any package on your car. It's a stand alone option regardless of your package.
Here's the correct and accurate information-
Sports package has everything the Lux package does, for $500 less, except for the woodgrain and the power rear sunshade. It also has the following additional things the Lux package does NOT have-
Sport suspension
Sport pedals
(the above assumes you're getting the Lux with 18" wheels.. if you want Lux with 17s it'll be a special order but it's possible, and would then be about $300 less than the sports package)
I can't figure out why there's constantly so much confusion over what comes in what package... even salespeople seem to have no idea... but it's pretty clearly listed at lexus.com
http://www.lexus.com/models/IS/features/pricing.html
Personally, I think the sports package is the best deal, since it's $500 less (with the same wheels) and gives you more. This assumes you agree with me and prefer the metal trim to the woodgrain for your interior and would never use the rear sunshade. If you really love the woodgrain, and don't care about the pedals or suspension, or for some bizarre reason can't live with a rear sunshade, then get the Lux.

Amen brother! The sports suspension isn't all that great from what I've heard and read about here on CL. Don't waste your time with springs, proceed immediately to coilovers (so you can have an even drop without the dreaded "Lexus lean" that are cars are notorious for)

The above is largely incorrect.

I have another question that I'll just put here rather than start a new thread.
If you buy the car from the US, is it possible to change the odometer & nav to read distance in km as opposed to miles? Or is that just something I'd have to live with?

You're wrong.
The radio has -nothing- to do with what package you get on the car.
The navigation has -nothing- to do with what package you get on the car.
They're both entirely stand-alone options.
You can get ML by itself with any package.
You can get nav by itself with any package.
You can get ML -and- nav together with any package.
