Default Choice of tires, need some advice

I've narrowed my tire selection down to 3. I wanted a high performance all eason tire, that's good on dry and wet road, quite, good traction on light snow, and a comfy ride. I ended up with these choices:

Bridgestone Potenza RE960 AS

Continental Extreme Contact

Yokohama YK520

What you guys suggest? I'm leaning toward the Bridgestone, however, the Yokohama's are pretty nice too, don't know about the Continental's, but the guy at tirerack recommended them along with the Bridgestones.

Thanks!

PM member Brian231 (Brian) he has the Continental Extreme Contact on his AWD car that was in the pic next to my car and he swears by them. We get the weather like you in IL so see what he has to say.

I suggest the Goodyear Eagle F1 AS. I have them and love them.

yeah i thought about those at the begining, but everyone told me they are loud tires, so there were out of my list.

I do not notice them being loud. I would say quieter then the original Dunlaps.

well, i called discount tire and asked them for their opinion on the bridgestone and the Yokohama's, because the price is about 230bucks more (bridgestone being more expensive), and they actually told me to go with the Yokohama's, and said that the bridgestones have a bit better traction, but not worth the 230 upgrade, and the Yoko's last longer. What do you guys thinK? would you go for the Bridgestones in this case? They don't work on commission, so he didn't try selling me the more expensive tire.

I have had the best luck with all season traction with the Z rated Continental Extreme Contacts. I went through two sets on my gen 1 IS300 in Chicago winters and rush hour. Very safe and very grabby tire. I recently Dumped the Dunlops on my 2gen at (k and put on the Continentals. now I never feel my traction control or stability. As long as they tires are made, i will keep buying them. They have a 400 treadware as well and are not noisy.

I have had issues with Yokahama road noise in the past along with some other buddies with different series of Yokahamas, I would read reviews on Tire Rack and Discount Tire.

Bridgestone Potenza RE960 AS

I had them before I went to 18s.
Would have bought them again but a Tire Rack rep called me and said the weight side wall rating on the 18s would work on my IS.
So I went with the GoodYear F1 A/S.
The F1s handle well but can be a bit noisy and a bit harsh ride on certain pavement.
I should have went with the Yokohama ADVAN S.4s which had better ride and noise ratings along with very good handling.

did you forget the continentals? they'r the best of your options. as a mechanic in a high end dealer, i've driven all kinds of cars with every kind of tire made in every condition. the conti's will give you what you want better than the others, especially in snow.
